Robert C. Gebert is a partner at Thomas J. Dwyer & Associates, LLC. In January 2023, Bob joined the firm as a partner after merging his law firm practice into Thomas J. Dwyer & Associates.

Bob brings more than four decades of accounting, tax, legal and business advisory experience to the firm. He began his professional career in public accounting, working in both auditing and taxation, and later served as a Tax Partner with the Chicago accounting firm of Checkers, Simon & Rosner. He subsequently established his own professional practice, advising individuals, closely held businesses and not-for-profit organizations on a broad range of tax, legal, financial and business matters. His background as both an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant allows him to approach client matters from both legal and financial perspectives.

Bob’s practice focuses primarily on federal and state taxation, tax planning, business and corporate matters, estate planning, and advising closely held and family-owned businesses and their owners.

He regularly assists clients with business formations and reorganizations, acquisitions and sales of businesses, succession planning, tax compliance and planning, and the legal and tax issues that arise throughout the life cycle of a business.

Bob received his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois, his Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University, and his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1979 and was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1986.

Bob resides in River Forest, Illinois with his wife Anna Marie. Outside the office, he enjoys cycling, playing tennis, and spending time with his four children and six grandchildren at their summer home in Union Pier, Michigan.
